Cove, Union County, Oregon Agnes Haefer, 81, Cove, died Monday at Valley View Manor. Mrs. Haefer was born Feb. 20, 1897, in North Powder, the daughter of Mathias and Matilda (Harrison) Simonis. She was a member of the Cove Calvary Baptist Church and had resided in Cove for the past 60 years. Survivors include her son, Carson H. Haefer, Cove; brothers Ernest Simonis of North Powder, Laurence Simonis of Milwaukie, Ore.; sisters Eunice Smith of North Powder, Ellen Timpy of Union and Ethel Follett of Elgin; a grandson, Roger Haefer, Portland; and two great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. La Grande, Oregon Clemma Aileen Hackler, 81, of La Grande died Nov. 20 at her home. A memorial service will be held at later time. Arrangements are under the direction of Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Mrs. Hackler was born March 6, 1925, to William and Eunice Hughes Barber in Mankato, Kan. Her family moved to Steamboat Springs, Colo., where they lived for a short time before moving to Hermiston. Elgin, Union County, Oregon Died 10 January 1988 Fern S. Guthery, 98, of La Grande, died Sunday at Valley View Care Center. Mrs. Guthery was born September 23, 1890, in Akron, Colorado, to James and Ada (Withrow) Stewart. She married Fred E. Guthery in Wyoming in 1920. The Gutherys came to Elgin from Wyoming in 1938. Mr. Guthery died in August 1951. Mrs. Guthery attended Spearfish Normal School in South Dakota. Royal C. Gunn Sr. died Sunday at Huntington, where the family has been living the last few years, following a short illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday. Gunn was an engineer on the U. P. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Mary Gunn of Huntington; three sons, William of Portland, George in the U. S. Island City, Oregon William G. Gross, 81, of Island City died June 20 at a hospital in Boise. A private service will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gross was born Nov. 1, 1924, to Glenn and Margurite Mathewson Gross in Portland.
