Cove, Union County, Oregon Agnes Haefer, 81, Cove, died Monday at Valley View Manor. Mrs. Haefer was born Feb. 20, 1897, in North Powder, the daughter of Mathias and Matilda (Harrison) Simonis. She was a member of the Cove Calvary Baptist Church and had resided in Cove for the past 60 years. Survivors include her son, Carson H. Haefer, Cove; brothers Ernest Simonis of North Powder, Laurence Simonis of Milwaukie, Ore.; sisters Eunice Smith of North Powder, Ellen Timpy of Union and Ethel Follett of Elgin; a grandson, Roger Haefer, Portland; and two great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Elgin, Union County, Oregon Died 10 January 1988 Fern S. Guthery, 98, of La Grande, died Sunday at Valley View Care Center. Mrs. Guthery was born September 23, 1890, in Akron, Colorado, to James and Ada (Withrow) Stewart. She married Fred E. Guthery in Wyoming in 1920. The Gutherys came to Elgin from Wyoming in 1938. Island City, Oregon William G. Gross, 81, of Island City died June 20 at a hospital in Boise. A private service will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
