La Grande, Union County, Oregon Man Killed When Car Goes In Ditch G.W. Hansell, of La Grande, was killed instantly when a touring car he was driving left the Oregon Trail a mile north of Haines early Saturday morning and turned over in a ditch. Hansell was driving alone and authorities who investigated believe he fell asleep at the wheel. Hansell had been employed as a salesman by a Baker automobile agency for the past few weeks.
