New London County, Connecticut: A Modern History

This database contains a history of New London County, Connecticut. New London County is located in the southeastern part of the state and was formed as an original county in 1666. As detailed history of early New London counties has already been written by historians such as Miss Caulkins and Daniel Coit Gilman, this work focuses more on the modern history of the county and describes the early part only in as much as it helps emphasize the modern conditions. The "modern" times stressed in this work refer mainly to the time frame of the late 19th and early 20th centuries (roughly 1870-1920).
