History of Waterford, Oxford County, Maine

Waterford is located in Oxford County, Maine. This database is a history of the town from its earliest beginnings to its centennial celebration in 1875. Information included are a history of the grant and survey of Waterford, 1690-1775, plantation history of Waterford, 1775-97, town history from 1797-1820 (before separation), town history from 1820-75 (after separation), record of families, centennial proceedings and 1875, as well as a memorial of Reverend John A. Douglass.

The book came as a result of the Waterford Centennial Celebration of 1 September 1875. The records of families recorded in the volume were an afterthought to the centennial committee. The records may not be complete representations of Waterford families; however, they should yield very valuable clues for family history research in Waterford and the surrounding areas.
