About Laramie County, Wyoming, U.S., Naturalization Records, 1867-1920

Created by the Dakota Territorial legislature before Wyoming was a state or even a territory, Laramie County was established in 1867. The railroad, military, and mining operations as well as the federal Homestead Act brought thousands of immigrants to the new county. This database is a collection of naturalization records for the county between 1867 and 1920. It includes two types of records for immigrants naturalized by the territorial, state, and federal courts, index entries and abstract entries. Index entries contain information from court index cards and include the immigrant's name and date of naturalization. They also provide the volume, page, and certificate number to the naturalization records in the territorial and state courts of Laramie County and federal court for Wyoming. Abstract entries provide the immigrant's name, volume and page references, sovereignty, and date of naturalization. They may also provide country of origin, year of birth, and port of arrival in the United States. For researchers of early Wyoming immigrants, this can be a helpful source of information.

Index entries cover the years 1867 to 1920. See Microfilm no. 81-8-53 #43; MA 100713, Wyoming State Archives, 2301 Central Avenue, Cheyenne, Wyoming, 82001, for more information.
