About Galveston, Texas, U.S., Jewish Immigration Records, 1901-1917

This collection contains records of Jewish immigrants who were received by the Jewish Immigration Information Bureau (JIIB) in Galveston, Texas, from 1901 to 1917.

JIIB was the branch of the Industrial Removal Office responsible for receiving immigrants in Galveston and relocating them in communities across the U.S. Between 1907 and 1914, 10,000 immigrants traveled through Galveston. Records in this collection include ship passenger lists and correspondence about specific immigrants. Record may include the following information:

  • Name

  • Age

  • Estimated birth year

  • Place of origin

  • Arrival date

  • Port of arrival
